OUR CORE BELIEFS

The Gospel

The gospel starts with God—He is the only wise, good, and all-powerful Creator who made everything and rules over it all for His own glory. Humans were created in His image to love and worship Him forever. But starting with Adam’s disobedience, sin entered the picture, breaking our relationship with God and putting us all under His judgment. We are unable to reconcile this broken relationship on our own. Out of pure, undeserved love, God sent Jesus Christ to rescue us—through His perfect life, His death on the cross (paying the price for our sins), and His resurrection. This brings us back into a relationship with God. Salvation is God’s free gift. When we give our lives to Jesus, He makes us new, helps us to turn away from sin, and invites us to join His mission in the world.

God

We believe in one God who exists eternally as three distinct persons in perfect unity: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. God the Father is the Creator of all things, including humanity, and He is infinitely wise, sovereign, and good. He deserves all our love, honor, and worship. He is most glorified when people find their deepest satisfaction in Him. Out of love, He created us for relationship with Him.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the only Son of the living God. He was born of a virgin, lived a completely sinless life, died on the cross to pay for our sins, was buried, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to heaven, and will return one day. His life, death, and resurrection show the incredible depth of God’s love for us. Jesus is our only hope for salvation and the way we are reconciled to God. He now intercedes for those who follow Him.

The Holy Spirit

We believe in God the Spirit, promised by Jesus and given to believers after Jesus returned to heaven. He lives inside every Christian, guiding, strengthening, correcting, teaching, and empowering us for everyday life, sharing our faith, and serving in ministry.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is God’s inspired word—He guided the original writers so their writings were without error. It is God’s clear message to us, revealing who He is and how we should live. The Bible is our final authority on faith, truth, morality, and how to follow Jesus.

Humanity and Sin

We believe that every person is created in God’s image, giving us real dignity and worth. But sin has broken everything—our hearts, relationships, and the world—leaving us separated from God and in need of rescue. There is nothing we can do on our own to reconcile this broken relationship with God.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is God’s gift, not something we earn. It’s by His grace alone, received through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Jesus’ death is the only sufficient payment for our sins, and this rescue is open to anyone who trusts in Him. Our response includes believing, repenting (turning from sin), confessing faith, and being baptized by immersion as part of God’s saving work. Baptism is a command from Jesus, done in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit. While some practice sprinkling or pouring, we hold to immersion as the biblical pattern we must follow.  After baptism, we must yield to the Holy Spirit and strive to live faithfully in accordance with God’s word.

Creation

We believe that God created the entire universe out of nothing and continues to govern and sustain everything at all times and in every place. He reveals Himself through creation, as well as through Scripture and through Jesus. When we seek Him wholeheartedly, we find Him. Everything exists so we can know and glorify Him.

The Church

We believe the Church is the body of Christ, made up of all true believers everywhere, founded on the Day of Pentecost. It exists in local gatherings like TLCC, where we come together as one family. Every Christian should be an active, committed member of a local church, made up of followers of Jesus who have been baptized and want to participate in the church’s life and ministry. We belong to one another, each with different roles but united in Christ.

The Purpose and Mission of Our Church

At TLCC, our mission is to intentionally connect people to Jesus and His Church so they can find hope, live in freedom, and discover the purpose God has for their lives. We follow Jesus together by gathering weekly to worship, pray, praise, study the Bible, and apply it to real life. Everything we do aims to glorify God, exalt Jesus, and make disciples who follow Him. As the body of Christ, we are sent into the world to shine God’s glory and help others prepare to meet Jesus when He returns.

Christ’s Return

We believe that Jesus Christ will return to earth to judge the living and the dead. Our responsibility is to stay ready ourselves and help others get ready to stand before Him.
